5 Robbery Suspects Busted In Warri
A five man gang of armed robbers specialised in car snatching has been apprehended in Warri, Delta state.
The suspects were arrested by Police from “B” Division, a top police detective in the station who craved anonymity disclosed to newsmen on Tuesday in Warri.
The source further disclosed that one of the suspects identified as Ifunaya Amadike who was alleged to have been under the influence of drugs died on June 23, at an undisclosed hospital in Warri.
The other suspects, according to our source are Otite Efemena, Ochuko Ejiata, Oteme Ogbemigeye, and Ojdyewe Oghenetaga.
The source said that they were apprehended by the police on June 20, 2018 at the popular Bendel Estate, near Warri.
He explained that the suspects snatch a Toyota Highlander Jeep on June 18 in Ugborikoko axis of Warri in the late evening.
“They abandoned the jeep in Eboh road when the vehicle stop due to the security installed on it and quickly snatch a black Toyota Corola car.
“On their way to Ajamimogha, the car also failed and they snatched a Honda Pilot jeep and where later intercepted in the night by vigilante where they ran and abandoned the jeep.
“Army uniforms and gun were recovered from them when they were arrested,” the source said.
The source said that the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Corolla car have been found while effort was on to recover the Highlander.
He said that suspects have confessed and admitted to the crime.
The source added that Oghenetega confessed to have purchased a Delta government vehicle plate number at a cost of N100,000.00.
The robbery gang was currently cooling their heels at the police custody while they are being quizzed.
