Accidental Discharge: Ex-Lawmaker, Opeyemi Bamidele, A Party Loyalist Shot In Ekiti

Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, former member House of Representatives and another party loyalist have been shot.
The ugly incident occurred as a result of accidental discharge on Friday at the capital of Ekiti State, where they were both hit by bullets during the opening campaign of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Report by Channels Tv as confirm by the APC Chairman in the state, Mr Jide Awe, confirm the incident. He said that the victims have been taken to the hospital for immediate treatment.
Mr Awe, said that the target was Kayode Fayemi, and Bamidele fell victim of the ugly incident.
“When he shot at the crowd, I believe sincerely that he (the police) aimed at Dr Kayode Fayemi but narrowly, he (Fayemi) was pushed by somebody walking behind him,” Mr Awe revealed during a telephone interview on Politics Today.
“Opeyemi Bamidele was equally very near him and the shot hit him. But I can say authoritatively that he’s not badly hit, and he is recovering as we are talking,” he added.
The APC administrator, who saw the occurrence, said that those at the scene thought the shot was discharged by an exuberant officer who was attempting to pay regard to the previous pastor.
He said that he was coming back from the hospital and going to another one where the other gunfire casualty was being taken care of.
In the meantime, the police in the state have confirmed the occurrence saying that they have started their investigations concerning the shooting.
This incident is coming two days after Dr Kayode Fayemi resigned from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
