The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has withdrawn the Sen. Olugbenga Obadara- led State Congress Committee sent to conduct the Delta State APC state Congress this Saturday, BigPen Online can authoritatively report.

The committee which was inaugurated on Thursday in Abuja alongside other states by the APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso on behalf of Odigie-Oyegun were withdrew eleventh hours when they were about boarding a flight to Delta state.

BigPen Online learnt that Oyegun asked the committee chairman not to go to Delta state following directives from Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi who alleged that Obadara was going to do the bidding of APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and former Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is gunning for the National chairmanship seat of the party.

Dependable sources revealed that Delta state APC leader, Olorogun O’tege Emerhor who had since pledged his support for Oyegun, reportedly railroaded Amaechi to believed that those deployed to Delta state to conduct the state Congress would be influence by Tinubu and Oshiomhole against his permutations.

It was learnt that Emerhor who cleverly pitched his tent with Oshiomhole after President Muhammadu Buhari declared the former labour leader as his preferred candidate recently, is covertly working against the former Edo state Governor with the backing of the Transport Minister, Amaechi.

Credible source disclosed that Emerhor has influence the immediate change of the committee originally sent to Delta state because he couldn’t penetrate them before the committee were inaugurated on Thursday.

BigPen Online source from the APC national headquarters said, “Emerhor, in connivance with Oyegun has withdrew the people who were supposed to come to Delta state to conduct the state Congress because they feel their interest will not be protected.

“They believe the people will favour the camp of APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and former Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in the state Congress for Delta state.

“You remember during the inauguration of the committees in Abuja, Izunaso said the State Congress Committees are expected to hold meetings with stakeholders in the respective states on Friday before Saturday’s nationwide Congresses to elect State executive committee which include the traditional 17-member State Working Committees but as we talk the committee for Delta state has been withdrew.

“This development is what is delaying their arrival for the tomorrow Congress. Meanwhile, the same Emerhor was praising Oshiomhole in the newspaper the other day that his coming would enable APC capture Delta state but he is seriously working against him secretly because he enjoys the backing of Amaechi”.

BigPen Online recalls that the crisis rocking the APC blew open during the just concluded ward Congress of the party. The bloc of Emerhor and incumbent senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as well as from the camp of one of the party’s governorship aspirant, Chief Great Ogboru have been on each other jugular since the Congresses started.

The tussle by the trio is mainly over who control the soul of the party ahead the 2019 and subsequent general elections in the state in 2023.

While Emerhor is enjoying the backing of incumbent National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and some top echelon of the party including Minister for Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Omo-Agege and Ogboru bloc had pitched their tent with the new bloc of the party at the national level and also believed to have the backing of the presidency.
