Made In Aba: Governor Ikpeazu Sends 30 Shoemakers To China For Training

As part of efforts to promote the Made in Aba brand, 30 out of the 100 Aba-based shoemakers are set to leave for China for further training in shoe making and automation.

The China training project was in tandem with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration’s effort to industrialized Abia state and in promotion of made in Aba products.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Enyinnaya Appolos in a terse message on Thursday said that before they (shoemakers) leave, some pastors have been invited to pray for them, for God to protect and guide them during their 30 days stay in China for the training.

According to him, the beneficiaries are not just apprentice in the shoemaking business in Aba, they are professional shoemakers who are owners of their shoemaking businesses in Aba.

He said that the state Government was facilitating their trip to China for further training in shoemaking to bring them up to speed with modern ways of making shoes and other leather works, so that Aba can truly be called a shoe making city.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Ikpeazu charge the 30 Aba Shoemakers to be steadfast and be of good behavior through out their stay.

“I’m sending you to China with a lot of confidence. Others will be going after you, don’t block their access.

“You are our ambassadors in China, be worthy ambassadors and pay attention to your reason of going to China. God will see you through and it will be well with you”.
