Pan-Niger Delta People Congress (PNDPC), led by paramount traditional ruler of Seimbiri Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state, His Majesty Pere Dr. Charles Ayemi-Botu (JP), has attributed the recent approval of additional N3billion for the takeoff of Maritime University, Okerenkoko to its positive engagement of various militant groups in the region.

The group in a statement on Sunday by its Coordinator Media Affairs, Olorogun Monday Whiskey, expressed delight that there have been positive result since August 19th 2017 when the nine militant groups under the auspices of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) gave them the mandate to interface with the Federal Government on all issues that concerns peace and development in the entire Niger-Delta.

He said that the peace loving people of the Niger Delta are happy that President, Mohammadu Buhari have been able to key into the peace project of the Niger Delta, saying that his graciously approving the take-off of the Nation’s premier Marine University, Okerenkoko would go a long way to douse tension in the region.

According to the statement, after securing the mandate, PNDPC has used its wide contact both nationally and locally to ensure that the right groups, individuals and governmental institutions were consulted with open mind and the zeal to ensure that the peace/developmental process in the Niger Delta is pursued vigorously and with tenacity.

“Instructively, it should be noted that the National Leader of the PNDPC, His Majesty Pere Dr. Charles Ayemi-Botu use his wealth of knowledge and experience as a driving force during the formative stage of the defunct Pan Niger Delta People Forum (PANDEF) before it was high-jacked by those who currently parade themselves as leaders of the defunct group”, the statement said.

While commending President Buhari for the bold step taken on the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), the group said that the initiative was capable of re-engineering the general peace architecture and development initiative which in turn will enhance the peace and security in the Niger Delta region.

The group however appealled to the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) to still trust and believe in the capacity of the leadership of the PNDPC to be able to resolve all issues of interest and concern to the Niger Delta project.

The PNDPC National leadership also implores all critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta Project as well as authorities of oil multi-nationals to queue behind the PNDPC to ensure that enduring peace is achieved in the oil rich but strife torn region.

The group also called on all Niger Deltans to support “the PNDPC in ensuring that, this divinely assigned responsibilities is carried out to the benefits of all”.
