Former Governor of Delta state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan on Sunday led a large number of his political associates including former Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovouzorie Macaulay to Umeh carnival in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.

Among those in the entourage of the former governor was the former Commissioner for Special Duties (Infrastructure), Sir. Patrick Ferife, Former Commissioner for Works and Chairman, Governing Council, Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Hon. Solomon Fukekeme and former Commissioner for Women Affair and Queen Mother of Enwhen Clan, HRM Betty Efekodha among others.

The carnival was package by a social media group, ‘Umeh Need Road’ to commemorate the 57th Independence Anniversary celebration of Nigeria.

One of our correspondent reports that the joy of the people of Umeh was palpable and infectious as Uduaghan joined the sea of heads who stormed Umeh to celebrate the October 1st carnival.

BigPen Online recalls that Umeh, an agrarian community, off the East/West Road, got a multi million naira road project, awarded and executed during Uduaghan’s administration, ending over 30 years of neglect and abandonment, following a well robust advocacy machinery deployed by indigenes of the area.

The advocacy conducted on a Facebook group, which attracted Uduaghan to award and execute the road project was championed by a notable son of the community, Barr Duncan Afahokor, joined by other concerned Deltans.

The group, christened ‘Umeh Need Road’ later metamorphosed into carrying out charity works among others.
