Northern Govs Storm Abia In Search Of Peace

The Northern Governors Forum have intensified efforts to ensure peace reign between Southeast and the North.

The Governors on Monday storm Abia State and held meeting with the state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

This is coming barely few days after South East Governor Forum led by Ebonyi State Governor promise exchange of visit between Governors of the North and South East as part of efforts to strengthen regional coexistence.

A delegation of Northern Governors Forum, led by its chairman and Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashmir Shettima, include the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Kastina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, Plateau State Governor, Simon Dalong, and Kebbi State Governor.

Also among the delegation was former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who also joined the team to interact with Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on the recent face-off between the Nigerian Army and members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in the state.

BigPen Online recalls that the South East Governor Forum had while reading the resolutions of their meeting held in Enugu last week, said they were in touch with their counterparts in the north.

“We are in touch with the Northern Governors Forum, they have assured us of the safety of all our people living in the north and we have also planned to exchange of visits between the Governors and to re-enforce the confidence of Nigerians in this respect.”
