Update IV: Delta Elections: Violence In Delta As Thugs Attack Polling Units

An orgy of violence has encased a polling unit in Afiesere community, Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

Sources said the skirmishes broke out following moves by agent of one of the political party to sway eligible voters into voting their party.

By the time the dust raised by the ensuing disagreement settled, two APC supporters had been badly injured and later hospitalized.

Also, there was drama at Iyede Unit 8, Ward 2, Isoko North LGA as both APC and PDP supporters clashed over allegation of manipulation of the voting process. Electoral observers and journalists sighted in the unit were chased away from the ward.

At Iyede ward 2, Unit 3, the polling unit was chaotic as some party agents alleged that PDP thugs chased away APC agents and supporters and other party’s supporters from the unit. One of APC agent who gave his name as Clement Omoemu, alleged he was badly manhandled and chased away with security agents turning blind eye.

Oghara-Iyede is the country home of Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Arch. Joe Ogeh.

Meanwhile, Hon Evans Ivwurie, House of Assembly member who is seeking re-election has frown against the alleged snatching of ballot boxes by APC members in unit 2 Abraka and Ward 2 in Otorho Primary School respectively.


Update i:

Thugs Mutilate electoral materials with red oil

Suspected hoodlums believed to be loyalist of APC reportedly mutilated electoral materials in Unit 0912004, Oyede Isoko North LGA.

A local source from the area said the thugs who were resisted in an attempt to destroy the materials decided to pour red oil on them.

Thugs Unleash Mayhem In Oleh

Gun wielding men suspected to be PDP loyalist reportedly unleashed mayhem in Oleh Ward 02, Unit 014 thus disrupting the electoral process.

An APC Ward Chairman of Oleh Ward 1, Vincent Egbogbo was badly attacked and stabbed on the head by the thugs who were reportedly armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

Local sources disclosed that the invaders were driving from one polling unit to another threatening voters that those that will not vote their party should leave the centre.


Update iii:

One Shot Dead In Iwhrekan, Electoral Materials Burnt

One person was reportedly shot dead in Iwhrekan community in Jeremi Ward 1 Polling Unit in Ughelli South LGA, Delta State, during the gubernatorial election on March 9th, 2019.

Report says electoral materials were also destroyed by thugs deployed to the polling unit.

The deceased simply identified as Ediri Gbemre was an APC agent. He was shot dead at the collation centre allegedly by thugs loyal to the PDP who invaded the collation centre to unturned results.


Update iv:

One Person Dies As Gunmen Attack Polling Unit In Abraka

One person died while scampering for safety as gunmen attacked a polling units at Ekerejeta, Abraka.

Several others were injured as the invaders stormed the polling unit at Campus 1 Gate of the Delta State University, Abraka shooting sporadically.

In the ensuing commotion, one person who was scampering for safety was hit by a moving car and died instantly.

The attackers later made away with ballots boxes and papers at the unit.
