Fmr nPDP Spokesman, Eze Describes Report Of Amaechi Leaving APC As ‘Fake News’

Former spokesman of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has dismissed recent media report ascribing a statement of regret to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as ‘fake news’.

Eze, spoke in a statement obtained by BigPen Online on Monday in reaction to the report with the title “No Serious Party Has Approached Me Yet” ascribed to Amaechi.

According to Eze, an ally of the Minister of Transportation, the author of the fake, malicious, ill-conceived and concocted piece were actually targeting the cordial relationship between the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi with President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Godswill Akpabio and other leaders of the party.

According to the APC chieftain, the author used a nonexistent Ibeh, supposedly a friend of the Minister of Transportation, Amaechi, to portray a ‘regret that only exists in their minds’.

He said that the author also created a link that does not exist between the Minister and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, so that he (Amaechi) will look like a black leg in the party to which he has invested his sweat and blood’.

“The attributions of the authors of the satanic write-up, that Amaechi’s confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic was the doing of Senator Saraki flies in the face of the truth because contrary to the insinuation of the writers, Saraki was opposed to the appointment of Amaechi as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because of his (Amaechi’s) closeness to the President.

“Besides that, Amaechi is the opposite of what Saraki and his co-travelers in defiance of the party’s supremacy stand for”.

Eze, however recalled the level of risks Amaechi took in rejecting PDP and assisting other progressives to get APC to the level it is in Nigeria and world politics and has no regret for the part he played in installing the APC as the ruling party in Nigeria, stressing that Amaechi would do all within his powers to ensure that the party is re-elected come 2019, no matter the odds.

“I wondered how such a worthless statement could be ascribed to Amaechi, knowing very well how he risked his life by joining the APC train against the likes of former President Goodluck Jonathan and Nyesom Wike who threatened to kill him on several occasions.

“Recalled that in one of his outbursts, Wike threatened, according to the PUNCH of February 22, 2014, with the title, “FG’ll arrest Amaechi after Jonathan’s victory –Wike”, reported and is excerpted here: “Once the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announces the victory of President Jonathan, we will immediately shut down the Port Harcourt International Airport and all land and sea borders in Rivers State to prevent Governor Amaechi from escaping or does he (Amaechi) think we don’t know that he is planning to run away? But he and his cohorts will not succeed. All they can do thereafter is to lock themselves inside the Government House and at the appropriate time, we will go there and pick them up one after the other.”

“Eze wants to be educated how after all these attempts by Wike and his cohorts coupled with how they attempted to stop Amaechi’s confirmation as a Minster and all the failed attempts to cause friction between him and Mr. President, how will it be possible for he (Amaechi) to contemplate leaving APC or regret of assisting in installing APC as a ruling party in Nigeria?

He, however, accused Governor Nyesom Wike and Senator Magnus Abe of being the brains behind such unwarranted attempt to tarnish the image of the Minster of Transportation as their past plots of sponsoring such malicious reports have always failed like a pack of cards.

He said that Amaechi was more concern about how to deliver two gigantic projects at hand on his core mandates area as the Minster of Transportation and to drive Nigeria’s transportation system to a global height through massive infrastructure development.

As the Director General of Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Organisation, Eze said the Transportation Minister was only thinking of how to deliver President Muhammadu Buhari at the APC Presidential Primary, at the Presidential election proper, and therefore urged “Wike and his misguided team to look for something tangible to do to improve on their fading political profile”.

He stated that the public should ignore such a report as it emanated from people that are threatened by the high political profile of Amaechi particularly the cordial relationship between him and Mr. President.

“Finally, no amount of falsehood and propaganda will cause Amaechi to leave APC no matter the odds as Amaechi sacrificed his blood to assist in making APC whatever it is today and advised those behind propagating and promoting all manner of falsehoods against Amaechi to look for something better to do”.
