2027: Tinubu Is Beatable, APC Will Come Last — Adebayo

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has declared that President Bola Tinubu can be defeated in the 2027 presidential election, predicting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will finish last.

Adebayo made the remarks on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, while discussing his chances against Tinubu and whether the President’s bid for a second term would be difficult to challenge.

The SDP candidate dismissed the perception that Tinubu and the APC are unbeatable, arguing that the power to determine the outcome of the election ultimately rests with Nigerian voters.

According to him, Nigerians are tired of poverty and insecurity and would reject attempts to influence their votes with money or food items.

Adebayo said, “Those people are insulting Nigerians. You cannot be in government if Nigerians vote against you.”

He added that the SDP would campaign on ending poverty and insecurity, expressing confidence that Nigerians would support his party if they focused on the challenges confronting the country.

“If people are not collecting rice and money from them, if you focus on what you need to save this generation from perpetual poverty and insecurity… we will win by God’s grace,” he said.

On his policy plans, Adebayo maintained that Nigeria has the agricultural capacity to feed the entire African continent within three years if adequate investment is made in the sector.

He also questioned the conventional understanding of fuel subsidy, arguing that subsidy is a government financial arrangement rather than petrol itself and would fail whenever the government lacks control over supply.

Adebayo’s latest comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures increasingly challenging the dominance of the APC and Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
