NAF Air Strikes Crush Terrorist Hideouts, Neutralise Insurgents in North-West

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its offensive against terrorists and armed bandits in the North-West, carrying out a series of precision air strikes that destroyed criminal strongholds and neutralised several insurgents in ongoing military operations.

‎In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1 said it sustained relentless air operations between June 18 and 19, 2026, targeting identified terrorist enclaves while expanding intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions across the region.

‎According to the statement, NAF aircraft, acting on credible intelligence, successfully struck a confirmed terrorist hideout within the Joint Operations Area, disrupting the activities of criminal elements and significantly degrading their operational capabilities.

‎The Air Force further disclosed that in a separate intelligence-led mission around Kidandan, its aircraft engaged and eliminated terrorists after positively identifying their movement within the area.

‎Follow-up reconnaissance missions conducted over Fatika and Sabuwa reportedly confirmed the absence of further terrorist activity, while aerial surveillance operations continued to provide support for friendly ground troops engaged in ongoing security operations.

‎The statement noted that the coordinated missions underscore the Air Force’s commitment to denying terrorists and armed bandits freedom of movement while strengthening security across the North-West theatre.

‎Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reiterated the importance of integrating air and ground operations in the fight against insecurity.
‎According to him, “Decisive air power delivers its greatest effect when seamlessly integrated with surface operations.”

‎The Air Force said it remains committed to deploying intelligence-driven air power in close coordination with ground forces to eliminate terrorists, safeguard civilian populations and restore lasting peace and security across affected communities in the North-West.
