Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has finally silenced critics who questioned his educational background during the 2023 election.

The governor, who graduated with a 2:1 in Political Science from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), said he’s proud to be the first governor to emerge from the university.

Oborevwori recounted how he was taunted and dragged to court during the election, with some claiming he didn’t attend school.

However, he pointed out that his academic achievements, including his master’s degree from Delta State University, speak for themselves.

The governor’s remarks came during a courtesy visit from the Executive Committee of the AAU Alumni Association, who honored him with the Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence.

He pointed out that the visit of the Executive Committee members of the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Worldwide, was another testament that indeed, he graduated from the University.

Governor Oborevwori, said: “I am greatly honoured for the Hero award and the award of Excellence that you bestowed on me. I sincerely appreciate everything.

“I have a lot of regards for Ambrose Alli University, AAU. There was a time during the political season when they said that l did not go to school. You know in politics, there is a lot of blackmail.

“I did a full time programme at AAU. I am a man with excessive local content. I believe in Nigeria and in this state.

“I graduated with 2:1 after my BSc. I was a student who doesn’t make noise; and today, all my course mates at Ekpoma still support me.

“Not only that, I did my MSc programme full time in Delta State University, Abraka. I was among the pioneer students of MSc and I value it.

“The University stood by me all through the court case that even the opposition lawyers were shocked. I still have my matriculation number.

“So, when people are talking, I just laugh. Those days at Ekpoma, we looked for water to bathe before going to class.

“We thought we were suffering then. But today, when you pass through Ekpoma, there is no way you will not do well in life.

“I am proud that I graduated from that University and that I am the first to be a governor from that University.”

He assured members of the association that he will give his personal donation to support the association’s ongoing building project in the University, reiterating that he was so grateful for their visit.

“Currently, the university is in need of infrastructure, and as an Association, we have decided to assist in building a Computerized Examination and Records Building in the University to fastrack the processing of results, certificates and transcripts.

“The Computerized Examination and Records Building project is estimated to cost about N500,000,000 (five hundred million naira). Your Excellency, as we speak, the project has started, and we are at windows level.

“We, therefore, humbly appeal to his Excellency to support this project and bring it to speedy completion as we have resolved to name the building as ‘Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Exams and Records Building’ to further consolidate your name in our Alma-Mater,” he added.

While saying that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was the first ever Executive Governor that has been produced by the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association, Dr. Omozeghian stated that members of the association will continue to celebrate the remarkable feat.

“Consequently upon this laudable achievement, today, we will be honouring you with two awards. One, the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Hero’s Award, and secondly, the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Award of Excellence,” he said.
