The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ruled in favour of Nigeria in the disrupted Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Libya.

The match, initially scheduled for October 15, 2024, in Benghazi, has been declared lost by forfeit by Libya, with Nigeria awarded all three points.

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) was found guilty of breaching multiple CAF regulations, including Article 31 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations and Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

As a result, the LFF has been fined $50,000, which must be paid within 60 days of notification.

The decision gives Nigeria a major boost in their AFCON qualifying campaign, while Libya faces a setback in their pursuit of a spot in the 2025 tournament.
