The weekend saw a flurry of activity in the Delta State riverine community of Okerenkoko as Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, the media advisor to High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, laid his late father, Pa. (Apostle) Asia Bebenimibo, to rest in a grand manner.

The deceased Apostle Asia Bebenimibo’s remains were taken from the morgue at Vennell Hospital in a motorcade to the Miller Waterside NPA in Warri, from where they took a boat ride to his hometown of Bibopere Zion in the Okerenkoko Community for the burial ceremony.

Members of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church of God, Bibooere Zion, Okerenkoko, family, children of the deceased, and friends danced while reciting Ijoh songs in honor of Pa. Bebenimibo, who passed away at the age of 91.

Snr. Boanerge Amb. Peter Ebiarede German officiated at the funeral and burial.

Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, a lecturer at Delta State University, Abraka and a media advisor to Tompolo, paid tribute to his late father in his remarks.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God the Almighty and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, for the life that my father lived,” he began.

“My father was a calm and modest man. He made friends with people of all ages, from all tribes, men and women, boys and girls. He was diligent and dabbled in a variety of trades.

His generosity was well known. He was endowed with knowledge and a strong memory. Even after a long time, he can still remember conversations and interactions with people.

“He always advised his children and those close to him to maintain peace and flee from evildoers. I will miss his counsel and friendliness. I firmly believe that we will encounter him on the Day of the Resurrection”, Dr Paul said.

In accordance with local custom, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo assisted his other siblings in giving their father a proper funeral rite that began on Friday afternoon and ended with a ceremony throughout the night.

In a conversation with newsmen, Chief Austin Enekorogha, a relative of Pa. Bebenimibo, urged his children to be more unified and to imitate the honest character their father stood for while on earth.

Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro (Esq.), the deputy governor of Delta State, and lecturers from the Delta State University’s mass communication department were in attendance at the colorful event.
