Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, in the spirit of democracy which was few days ago celebrated in Nigeria, has ought for dialogue with those perceived to be making the state ungovernable for him.

BIGPENNGR reports that the governor who was recently accused of being complacent over the increasing insecurity in the State by the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said; “In the spirit of democracy, I am willing and available for any meaningful dialogue that would bring an end to violence in our dear State”.

“May I use the occasion of this democracy day to appeal to everyone to sheath his sword. I believe that as brothers and sisters from the same State, we can resolve our differences amicably without resort to violence”.

“Imo State has been known as the bastion of hospitality and peace. We should collectively come together to rebuild our State and build its economy. With what has happened, investments are jeopardised and may soon take flight. Our youths are losing the few jobs they have. This should not be the legacy we should leave for our children”, Governor Uzodinma said.

Imo State has been boiling for past six months now with the governor blaming the upheaval on some unnamed politicians and lately members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a unit of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, (IPOB) alleged to be terrorizing the state.

The crisis which earlier started from Orlu had escalated after Governor Uzodinma drafted the military who descended on members of the paramilitary wing of secessionists agitators.
