Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has summoned an emergency meeting in response to Sunday’s threat by Fulani Jihadists to attack the state if the governor does not withdraw his support for the ban on open grazing.

Heads of all security agencies in the state and other stakeholders were said to have attended the meeting held on Monday evening, June 14, 2021 – a day after a letter giving Okowa 72 hours to make a turn-around was found pasted in strategic locations in Asaba, the state capital.

A source close to the meeting disclosed that Governor Okowa “tasked all the security agencies to be proactive and nip in the bud any plan to cause civil unrest in the state.”

He also reportedly tasked them to “identify the originators of the threat letter.”

Those who attended the meeting included the State Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commander Amphibious Brigade Warri, State Director of the Department of State Service (DSS) and other stakeholders
