Senator Ayo Arise Kidnapped, Abductors Set Ransom At N80m

Senator Ayo Arise has reportedly been kidnapped alongside his driver on the Okene-Abuja Highway.

Senator Ayo Arise was the former Chairman of the senate Committee on privatization between 2007 and 2011.

He was reported to have been travelling in his Mercedes SUV when the gunmen attacked him and ferried him to an unknown location.

A family source confirmed that he was abducted on his way to Abuja from Oye-Ekiti, his home town.

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), senator Arise was said to have attended a ceremony at Ikere-Ekiti on Saturday, where a chieftaincy title was conferred on Retired Assistant Inspector General of police, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin.

He thereafter returned to Ekiti and visited the golf course Road along Federal polytechnic Road before heading home to his associates.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya said yesterday in Lokoja that the command was not aware of any kidnap, stressing that the Okene-Lokoja Road where the senator was kidnapped was under effective policing.

However, Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Alberto Adeyemi who confirmed the incident declined to make comments stating that the area where the crime happened was not within his jurisdiction.

It was gathered that the the abductors of the senator who represented Ekiti North Senatorial District on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had made a random demand N80million to members of his family.
