UPDATED: Isoko North Constituency Bye-Election Was Hitch Free – Delta Police Boss

The Commissioner of police in Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has reassured of hitch-free conduct of Saturday’s Isoko North State constituency bye-election in Delta State.

Muhammed Ali, said this when he spoke with NBIGPENNGR in a telephone conversation while monitoring the election in Isoko North council area on Saturday.

He said that officers and men of the State Police Command were fully mobilised for the conduct of the election across the wards and polling units that made up the Isoko North local government areas.

According to him, prior to the election he held meetings with the stakeholders and contestants to ensure the election comes out smooth.

He said that the election was violence free in all part of the council he personally visited owing to the adequate security deployment to polling units and also some flash points to maintain law and order.

“I can tell you categorically that the election was hitch free. We have been on ground since morning. I came in personally to supervise my men and officers and ensure everything go fine.

“I can ensure you that the voting went smooth in all the areas I visited and collation has since started. However, we are expecting everyone to please give us maximum cooperation,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the state police spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright said that the police Commissioner went on supervision of security operatives deployed for the bye election and also monitor the conduct of the elections.

The Commissioner of police had directed the deputy commissioner of police incharge operations, DCP Olaleye Faleye to relocate to Isoko north LGA on Friday 9th April 2021.

“The commissioner of police joined him and was on ground all through the election process.

“The Election was peaceful and free and fair, which was largely due to the over whelming presence of security operatives which includes other sister agencies.

“The Commissioner of police visited the Isoko North local government INEC Office, Egubrie Primary school, unit 5 ward 9 in Uruto hall, Egbo unit inward 2, and also Iyede collation centre among others.

“The Commissioner of police thanked the electorate for the way and manner they conducted themselves before, during and after the Bye elections and also urged them to remain calm while the results is being collated”, he added.
