Late Erudite Poet, J.P Clark’s ‘Will’ Says He Should Be Buried Within Three Days – Family

The family of the late literary icon, Prof. John Pepper Clark, on Thursday, says the “written will” of the deceased scholar says he should be bury in three days after his demise.

According to report in Niger Delta Today, an online newspaper, J.P Clark will be buried at his Kiagbodo country-home in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State tonight.

The report says the remains of the Nigerian famous poet and writer, was flown from Lagos, and has arrived the Asaba International Airport over an hour ago.

“He will be buried tonight on arrival at Kiagbodo at his river creek home of the community. Sympathizers comprising family members were patiently waiting for the body of the renowned African author. It was gathered that the late emeritus professor already dug a grave for himself in his compound while alive.

“The poet’s eldest son, Elaye Clark, confirmed that his father will be buried tonight in line with his wishes before his passage. Elaye stated that the burial would be a quiet family ceremony.

“Late JP Clark had demanded to be buried within three days of his passage and warned not to be taken to mortuary”, the report said.

In an earlier report, a relative of the deceased professor had said that the burial will be a low-key ceremony in line with the “Written Will” of the departed JP Clark.

“Late JP Clark was said to have told his children not to take his remains to mortuary and that he must be buried within three days of his passage.

One of the family sources quoted in the report had said, “Uncle JP will be buried today at Kiagbodo. Family is working hard to fulfill his wish to be buried within 3 days of his death.”

BIGPEN reports the emeritus professor of literature died on Tuesday October 13 at the age of 85 in Lagos.

JP Clark hails from Ijaw and maternally from Urhobo ethnic nationalities of the Niger Delta region. He was the younger brother to former Minister of Information and leader of the South-South region, Chief Edwin Clark.
