JUST IN: Okowa: My Wife, My Daughter And I Have Tested Negative For COVID-19

As Nigeria Records 595 New Cases

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, his wife, Dame Edith alongside their daughter, have all recovered from the scourge of Coronavirus disease after testing negative consecutively.

The governor had announced his COVID-19 status, alongside his wife, Dame Edith, who also tested positive to the deadly infection on Wednesday, July 1.

Fourteen days after, Governor Okowa who had gone into self isolation with his wife after one of his daughters had earlier tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease, said they have all tested positive.

He appealed to residents of the state to continue to observe necessary COVID-19 protocols aimed at containing the spread of the virus.

“My wife, my daughter and I have tested negative for COVID 19, along with other members of the family. We give God all praise and wish to appreciate all who have interceded for us in prayers.

“I appeal to all residing in Delta to obey all instructions/ regulations in our collective fight to stop the transmission of the virus. God bless you all”, the governor tweeted Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile Nigeria on Monday night reported 595 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths from Coronavirus disease across the 20 States and Federal Capital Territory in the last 24 hours.

Announcing this on its website, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), says till date, 33,153 cases have been confirmed, 13,671 cases have been discharged and 744 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 595 new cases reported from 20 states are as follow – Lagos (156), Oyo (141), FCT (99), Edo (47), Kaduna (27), Ondo (22), Rivers (20), Osun (17), Imo (13), Plateau (10), Nasarawa (8), Anambra (8), Kano (5), Benue (5), Borno (5), Ogun (4), Taraba (3), Gombe (3), Kebbi (1), Cross River (1).
