Smart Madu Ajaja, a US-based Nigerian Registered Nurse, has called on Nigerian women to revolt against embattled Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio over what he called gender-disrespectful and rascally aggression against former Acting Managing Director of Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Commission (NDDC), Mrs. Joi Nunieh.

Akpabio has been in the eyes of the storm after Mrs. Joi Nunieh made a flurry of damning allegations bordering on fraud against him.

Reports say Nunieh alleged that Akpabio had attempted to force her to take an ‘oath of secrecy’ to stop her from exposing fraud at the Commission. She said he repeatedly sought to place her under an oath, until the issue was resolved at the office of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari.

Addressing newsmen shortly after she appeared before the Senate Ad-hoc Committee currently investigating the NDDC, Nunieh alleged that her failure to dance to the tune of Akpabio on some alleged fraudulent requests led to her removal as the MD of the NDDC’s IMC.

However, instead of responding to the allegations of financial recklessness made against him, Akpabio descended heavily on Nunieh while speaking on the allegations, Saturday night on Arise TV, describing her as a “disgruntled former MD who does not know that offices come and go”.

“I’m not supposed to join issues with her as a minister of the federal republic,” he said, and went further to use some unprintable words to described her.

But reacting Ajaja, who is also a human and environmental rights activist, said such action from a minister birthed by a woman deserves an immediate sack.

Ajaja described Akpabio diatribe against Nunieh as a “caustic, gender-disrespectful and rascally aggression” from a man who proud himself as a minister.

“You were born by a woman, was nurtured by a woman, are married to a woman and have children who will grow up to become women or to be married to women, but yet, you have no respect for women simply because of your ignorant, ridiculous and retrogressive gender-repressive and discriminatory African expansive grandiosity that most African men take undue of to become grossly insensible and insensitive, irresponsive and irresponsible”.

The convener of “Nigeria Now” and the “Nurses Arise” program respectively on Nightingale Radio worldwide that broadcasts live from Houston, Texas, USA, said that it is foolhardy forAkpabio to descend that low.

“Mr. Akpabio should step down or be fired by President Muhammadu Buhari without delay because he lacks the requisite temperament expected of a high-level public official occupying such a sensitive office as the minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

“I call on Nigerian women leaders of all ages from across our country’s political divide to mobilize women to rise up in defense of Dr. Joy Nunieh’s rights to privacy which was wantonly violated by Godswill Akpabio and against gender repression in Nigeria.

“Akpabio instead of addressing the grievous allegations of frauds and corruption in the Niger Delta Ministry leveled against him by Dr. Nuniel went into her private life, the typical Nigerian way that is hardly challenged because of the skewed system that some stupid men deploy to silence oppositions from women who raise their voices against them.
Godswill Akpabio has no reason to continue to be the Niger Delta Affairs minister beyond today”, he contended.
