Two sibling, a mechanic and panel beater have alleged that they were brutally beaten to pulp by a Chief Security Officer, (CSO) attached to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state.

The incident reportedly occurred on November, 4, 2019.

The victims gave their names as Coker Ola and Emmanuel Ola, both are siblings.

The police officer, Efiezomor, however denied the alleged assault.

But the victims said that they were rushed to federal medical centre, Asaba, where they were treated after the attack by the said Efiezomor and other mobile policemen attached to him.

Narrating their ordeal in the hand of the governor’s CSO, the two brothers alleged that, they were mercilessly beaten by mobile police men drafted to the scene of the assault by the CSO.

According to the victims, the said Efeizomor reportedly parked his car at their workshop while trying to eat in a nearby restaurant but on coming back saw another car blocking his car, a development which reportedly infuriated him.

One of the victim, Emmanuel said that Efeizomor threw caution to the winds, yelling why the owner of the workshop had to block his car, and then descended on his elder brother with some mobile policemen acting on Okowa’s CSO order.

According to Emmanuel, “when the man whom we later understand after the assault was governor Okowa’s CSO, CSP George Efeizomor came, he parked his car in my elder brother’s mechanic workshop due to lack of parking space in the area because he was going to eat in a restaurant along DBS road, Asaba.

“After eating, the CSO came to the workshop where his car was parked, and saw that my elder brother parked his car behind the CSO’s car. my brother went to test run one car so when he came back, he just parked behind the car normal.

“Immediately, the CSO came and saw another car behind his own, he started shouting and asking who has that animal impetus to park behind his car, and my elder brother who is the owner of the workshop came out to tell him, he was the one who parked behind him, and that as the owner of the workshop he has every rights to park his car wherever he likes and before we know it the CSO ordered some of his men and joined in beating my elder brother.

“As I got to the workshop, I asked what was happening and why were they beating my elder brother, and before I turn my face, the CSO hit me in the face and put a call across to men of the red beret who came and started beating us.

“One of our friend, Andy Okebuinor was also beaten. But I was most hurt. Some good Samaritans assisted in taking me to the federal medical centre, Asaba for treatment.”, Emmanuel narrated.

The victim further alleged that his elder brother, Coker Ola was taken to GRA Police Station by the CSO where he was detained and granted bail after paying the sum of N10,000.

Reacting to the incident, the founder of the Behind Bar Rights, Initiative (BBI), Harrison Gwamnishu, who condemned the ugly act in its entirety, in a petition addressed to the state governor, speaker and members of the state assembly and the state commissioner of police, called for a thorough investigation into the case and bring to justice the CSO to serve as deterrent to other government officials abusing their office.

When contacted on the issue, CSP Efiezomor, debunked the allegation but added swiftly, “You know as a police officer, we are not permitted to talk to the press, so I advised that the Chief Press Secretary, (CPS) to the governor be contacted for more comments on the issue.”

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, (CPS), Olisa Ifeajika, when contacted by one of our correspondent merely said reporting such an assault was no longer fashionable globally.
