INEC Ad-hoc Staff Protest Over Unpaid Training Allowance As Voting Commence In Delta

Some ad-hoc Staff of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC protested their unpaid training allowance as accreditation in Warri and voting commenced in Delta State.

BIGPEN NIGERIA learnt the ad-hoc Staff were angry over failure of Supervising Presiding Officer (SPO) in charge of the Registration Area Centre at Ikengbuwa primary school Warri to disburse their training allowance before the commencement of the exercise.

They were later pacified to allow the distribution of electoral materials continue thereafter they would be attended to. Official were still sorting the various ward materials as at 8:22am..

At Nana College Warri, as at 8:22am materials have not arrived.voters who turned up as early as 7:am are stranded.  It was learnt that materials were still at racs as of 8:30am.

As at 9:26am materials for Ward2 unit 12 (102202012)  Uvwie has arrived but voting has not started. INEC officials still signing ballot papers.

As at 9:20am electoral materials were yet to leave INEC registration area centre in Ugborikoko police station for ward 5 and 6. The area was crowded with party agents and ad-hoc Staff waiting to be dispatched to their polling units.

As at 9:35am Voters were filling to vote at Ward 1 unit 9 Uvwie but one of the card reader was not working. Eligible voters were however been accredited with the other functioning card reader.

The last batch of electoral materials left INEC office for the three Ozoro wards as at  9.30am The other 10 wards left earlier.

INEC’s EO in Ughelli,  Mr Andrew Akhigbe confirmed early movement of electoral materials, saying results sheets and all materials moved to RACs and distribution of materials on going as at 8:20am.

Meanwhile, the Delta State House of Assembly speaker,  Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has voted at 10:am in Osubi after almost one hour accreditation due to faulty card reader.

It was gathered that card readers are malfunctioning in several part of Ukwuani local government area.

Accreditation started 9:15, but slowly. At this hour one card reader is working out of the two card readers deployed to the unit. Technician from INEC had been called in.

At Obiaruku grammar unit 15/16, ward 10, voting started late due to arrival of materials. Accreditation and voting started by 10:15. At Morka primary school, Ward 10, unit, 1,2,3,4, voting started 9am. All is peaceful

The card readers later started functioning at Ward 1, unit 4. At Eziokpor ward 6, Ukwuani, materials arrived 9am. Card readers not working as at 10:47 am.

Our correspondent reports that the turn out in Sapele is very impressive as voting has long commenced in the area.

Eligible voters were stranded at Abigborodo, country home of former governor and Delta South senatorial candidate, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan as electoral materials were yet to arrived the area as at 11:36am. It was learnt that the materials were yet to be dispatch from the RACS in Koko, headquarters of Warri North
