‎Omo-Agege Hails Peter Obi at 65, Backs NDC Leader’s 2027 Presidential Bid

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the 9th Senate and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, on his 65th birthday, describing him as a symbol of hope and a leader committed to transforming Nigeria.

‎In a goodwill message issued on Sunday via official facebook, Omo-Agege said Obi’s leadership, integrity and commitment to accountable governance have inspired millions of Nigerians who believe the country can achieve sustainable progress.

‎He praised Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, noting that his administration set enduring standards in prudent financial management, institutional reforms and responsible governance.

‎According to Omo-Agege, Obi’s emergence as the NDC presidential candidate has strengthened public confidence in the party as a credible alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic, security and governance challenges.

He said the NDC’s vision is centred on moving the country from a consumption-driven economy to one focused on production, self-sufficiency and inclusive development, with greater investments in education, healthcare, human capital development and security.

The former Deputy Senate President also expressed confidence that the party’s message continues to gain widespread acceptance across Delta Central and the South-South region, saying many Nigerians are embracing Obi’s vision for a more productive, secure and accountable nation.

‎Reaffirming his commitment to the party’s agenda, Omo-Agege pledged to support the implementation of Obi’s policies through legislation if elected to the Senate, stating that effective collaboration between the executive and legislature would be essential to delivering meaningful reforms.

He described the 2027 general election as an opportunity for Nigerians to restore confidence in public institutions and strengthen democratic governance through responsible leadership.

Omo-Agege further expressed optimism that the NDC would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election, saying the growing demand for credible leadership places the party in a strong position.
