Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has declared that residents of the state have resolved to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing the administration’s economic policies and their impact on the state’s development.

‎Speaking on Friday in Owerri during a reception for participants of the Presidential Media Tour, Uzodimma said Imo people have embraced the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda because of the visible improvements recorded in governance and infrastructure.

‎‎According to the governor, Tinubu’s policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, have significantly increased revenue available to states, enabling them to execute more developmental projects. ‎ ‎

“Our people have already decided that they want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu back as President in 2027 because without him and his policies, the progress and development we are witnessing today would have been difficult to achieve,” Uzodimma said. ‎

‎Uzodimma, who also chairs the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, urged members of the media delegation to witness the transformation taking place in Imo and other APC-controlled states, attributing the progress to improved federal allocations.

‎Reflecting on his administration’s financial position upon assuming office in January 2020, Uzodimma recalled that the state struggled financially, with only about ₦100 million remaining after salaries were paid. ‎

‎He said the situation changed dramatically after the Federal Government removed fuel subsidy in May 2023, noting that Imo’s monthly allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) rose to over ₦10.7 billion. ‎

‎The governor said the increased revenue has enabled his administration to invest in infrastructure and social development projects across the state. ‎ ‎

Uzodimma also disclosed that the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) has grown from less than ₦400 million monthly in 2020 to nearly ₦6 billion monthly, while the state’s debt profile has reduced from ₦287 billion to less than ₦90 billion. ‎

‎He added that the administration has improved road infrastructure, significantly reducing travel time across the state, while also making strides in the power sector. ‎

‎According to him, Imo now generates, transmits and distributes its own electricity within the state capital, with plans to expand power supply to all local government areas before the end of the year.

‎‎”Imo is ready for business,” the governor declared, describing the state’s electricity initiative as a major milestone in attracting investment and boosting economic activities. ‎ ‎

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, praised Uzodimma’s leadership and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda. ‎

Dare also commended the governor’s role in strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party continues to expand its political influence across the country under the leadership of President Tinubu.

‎He noted that the growing number of APC governors reflects what he described as increasing public confidence in the ruling party’s governance and development agenda.
