I Borrowed ₦400m to Secure Appointment, Creditors Reported Me to EFCC — PFIPC DG Claims

The self-styled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has claimed that he borrowed ₦400 million to secure his appointment, revealing that the creditors have now petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the debt.

‎Adeyemi made the disclosure during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, where he addressed the allegations surrounding his purported appointment and his absence from public view.

‎He denied reports that he was in hiding to evade law enforcement, insisting instead that he had withdrawn from public appearances because of alleged threats to his life.

I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger. There have been several attempts on my life,” he said.

Adeyemi also reiterated his earlier allegation that he paid money to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, through a proxy to facilitate his appointment as director-general of the council.

Responding to questions on how he sourced the ₦400 million he claimed to have paid, Adeyemi said the funds were obtained through loans.

I borrowed the money (₦400 million) for this appointment. In fact, those that I borrowed from have reported me to the EFCC,” he stated.

‎His latest claims add another twist to the controversy surrounding the PFIPC, an organisation whose status and legitimacy have been questioned, as investigations into the allegations continue.
