‎Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have dismantled an ISWAP roadblock along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, rescuing 53 civilians and recovering eight vehicles seized by the insurgents during a military operation.

‎According to a statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI carried out the operation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026

‎The statement read in parts, “troops deployed at Dutse Kura detected the terrorists mounting the roadblock through surveillance cameras. A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) was immediately dispatched to the location, where soldiers engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight.”

‎The terrorists reportedly retreated toward the Mangari–Dora general area after coming under sustained military pressure.

‎Following the engagement, troops rescued 53 civilians held by the terrorists and recovered eight vehicles that had been seized during the attack. Security forces subsequently cleared and dominated the terrorists’ withdrawal route, conducting follow-up searches, although no further contact was made.

‎The rescued civilians, recovered vehicles and other properties were safely evacuated to Buratai town. The civilians are currently undergoing documentation and medical evaluation.

‎Commending the troops for their professionalism and swift response, the Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI urged residents across the Joint Operations Area to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence on suspicious movements and activities.

‎The military added that the security situation in the area remains calm, with troops maintaining an aggressive operational posture to deny terrorists freedom of movement.
