Delta Police Nab ‘Yahoo Boy’ Over Edjeba Girlfriend’s Murder, Clear Air on Beheading Rumours

A suspected internet fraudster (popularly known as a “Yahoo Boy”), has been arrested by police in Delta state for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in his apartment on Ajidi Street, Edjeba Community.
The tragedy incident which happened on early Tuesday morning became public knowledge when the compound’s landlord heard a distressed scream echoing from the suspect’s room and immediately alerted the police.
However speculations were rife that the suspect allegedly chopped off the victims head but the police on Thursday debunked the rumour, saying she was not beheaded as widely claimed.
Although details of the incident which was reported in the early hours of Tuesday were still sketchy, local sources from the area, disclosed that the suspect used a knife to slit her throat thus fueling ritual-style killing.
“The Police promptly stormed the area, searched the apartment and found the headless body of the deceased with multiple injuries on her body just as they arrested the suspects who is currently cooling off his heels in custody”.
“The Police also deposited the remains of the deceased in a morgue pending when investigation is concluded”.
“Residents of the area said they saw the girl yesterday when she went to the market to purchase food items to cook for her boyfriend unknown to her he will kill her this morning.
“They (residents) also said they used to see the two love birds in the suspect’s White Lexus Jeep”, one source said.
Confirming the incident via a terse message, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, clarified that while a homicide did take place, the rumours of a ritual-style beheading were inaccurate.
“Murder confirmed, but she wasn’t beheaded,” Edafe stated.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations into the motive behind the killing continue.
