Tinubu Losing Sleep Over Insecurity, States Must Support Security Efforts — Shagari

Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, has said that President Bola Tinubu is deeply worried about the worsening security situation across the country and remains committed to ensuring the safety of Nigerians.

‎Speaking on Arise Television’s on Tuesday, Shagari emphasized that security should not be viewed as the sole responsibility of the Federal Government. He urged state governments to play a more active role in supporting security agencies and strengthening efforts to protect lives and property.

‎According to him, every state receives security votes and should utilize such resources to support the establishment and operation of state police structures as part of broader measures to combat crime and violence.

‎Shagari noted that Nigerians are increasingly concerned about the persistent security challenges facing various parts of the country and stressed that there should be no excuses when it comes to safeguarding citizens.

‎”The President does not sleep easy because of the security situation in the country. He is deeply concerned about the safety and security of Nigerians,” Shagari said.

‎He called on state governments to work closely with the President, the military, and other security agencies to tackle insecurity effectively, adding that improved collaboration would enable citizens to travel freely, conduct their daily activities without fear, and sleep peacefully.

‎The former deputy governor maintained that a united national effort remains essential to restoring peace and stability across the country. :::
