PETOOP Launches Delta State Chapter to Strengthen Grassroots Support for Peter Obi

The national movement, Peter Obi Our President (PETOOP), has taken a major step forward in grassroots mobilization with the formal inauguration of its Delta State chapter.

The event, held in Asaba, the state capital, overseen by the movement’s National Convener, Chief Marcus Oraka, drew a large crowd of supporters, political leaders, and stakeholders from across the state.

The historic ceremony was led by Pastor Nwogu Raymond and witnessed by prominent figures including Hon. Ogbueshi Cyril Monyei, Barr. Jahswill Onyemashiwe, Mrs. Onyiye Nwabudike, High Chief Dickson Egbuwe, and several others, alongside all 25 Local Government Area (LGA) coordinators of PETOOP in Delta State.

Leaders from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and various party stakeholders also attended to show solidarity.

In his welcome address, the Delta State Coordinator of PETOOP, Mr. Kunili Shola Friday, emphasized the strategic importance of establishing the state chapter.

He highlighted that the new structure would complement the ongoing efforts of the NDC, enabling stronger grassroots engagement from local wards, LGAs, and polling units, thus reinforcing the movement’s capacity to mobilize support for Peter Obi’s presidential bid.

In his keynote speech, Chief Marcus Oraka underscored the independence of the PETOOP structure, urging the newly installed leadership to operate transparently and with unwavering integrity.

He expressed confidence that the combined efforts of PETOOP and NDC would create a formidable force capable of delivering victory for Peter Obi in the upcoming elections.

The newly inaugurated State Executive Committee includes notable leaders such as Mr. Kunili Shola Friday (State Coordinator), Pastor Peter Chegwe (Funds Raising Coordinator), and Mrs. Ijeoma Bethel Ozonuwe (Women Leader), Pst. (Mrs) Chiemeke Ejime Cordelia (Deputy Women Leader), Mr. Osuji Justin Chyke (State Secretary), Mr. Ekenem Ojugbeli Omosor – Organizing Secretary.

Others include; Mr. Nwaeni Augustine Onochie (Publicity Secretary/PRO), Mrs. Abanum Angela Chika (Assistant State Secretary), Pst. Hon. Shadrack Wealth Ejeromedoghe (State Treasurer), Prince Valentine okunega (State Security Director), Hon Chief Monyei Cyril Chedu, (Dep. State Coordinator), Chief Eugene Umunna (Dir. Mobilization), Hon. Barr. Jahswill Onyemahiwe (Legal Director), Hon. Peter Uzor (Financial Secretary), Comr. Emmanuel Chiedu Okolo (Director Welfare), and Amb. Igabari Nwaka (Deputy Director Welfare).

The team was charged to serve with accountability, commitment, and a focus on transparent governance, echoing the movement’s core values.

The ceremony was lively, featuring cultural displays, music, dance, and comedy from various LGAs, which highlighted the unity and enthusiasm of supporters.

An unplanned fundraising drive also took place, with contributions from individuals and organizations such as the Swift Angels Foundation, to support the upcoming organizational activities at local levels.

Other donors were Pstr. Nwogu Raymond, High Chief Dickson Egbuwe, Mrs. Ofogwu Ifeanyi, Ezinwa Nneka, Pstr. Ozobiani Chukwuka, Ogbueshi Cyril Monyei, Hon. Umani Joseph and many others.

Director of Media & Communications, PETOOP, Delta State Chapter, Prince Enahoro Erijoh, said the funds donated are expected to support the newly inaugurated State Executive in preparation for a robust inauguration of the PETOOP structure at the LGAs, Wards, and Unit Canvassers across Delta State.
