‎Kwankwaso Threatens To Leave NDC, State Why

‎Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reportedly threatened to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) following the replacement of several Kwankwasiyya faction candidates in Kano.

‎A fresh crisis may be brewing within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after the party replaced several candidates initially submitted by the Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano State, citing an alleged breach of an existing power-sharing arrangement.

‎The development has reportedly sparked tensions between the party leadership and supporters of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, amid concerns that the changes could affect the alliance ahead of future elections.

‎According to a document signed by the Kano State Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Hussaini Isah Mairiga, the adjustments were made to align with a previously agreed framework governing the distribution of party offices and elective positions between the party’s original structure and the Kwankwasiyya bloc.

‎The document, which was copied to NDC National Leader, Seriake Dickson, Kwankwaso, and the party’s North-West Zonal Chairman, reaffirmed the implementation of the agreed sharing formula.

‎Under the revised list, the party approved Barrister Isma’il Idris Sani for Kumbotso Federal Constituency, Nasiru Ali Ahmed for Nassarawa, Kabiru Ishaq Sa’id for Kano Municipal, Barrister Dayyabu Jamilu Ibrahim for Doguwa/Tudun Wada, Muhammad Hamisu Abubakar for Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado/Tofa, Ibrahim Bashir Bango for Sumaila/Takai, and Abdulmajid Isa Umar Mairigar Fata for Gwale Federal Constituency.

‎The NDC also announced changes to candidates contesting State House of Assembly seats in Dala, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo, and Dawakin Kudu constituencies.

‎Party officials explained that the revisions were necessary to uphold a standing agreement under which the Kwankwasiyya faction would control 60 per cent of elective positions and party offices, while the existing NDC structure would retain the remaining 40 per cent.
