The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a significant reduction in road traffic crashes during its 2026 Eid-el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations, recording a 25.65 per cent decline compared to the same period in 2025.

‎According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the number of road crashes recorded nationwide dropped from 191 cases in 2025 to 142 in 2026.

‎The Corps also reported a 22 per cent decrease in the number of persons involved in road crashes, with figures falling from 1,364 in 2025 to 1,064 in 2026.

‎Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended motorists and other road users for complying with traffic regulations and adhering to the safety advisories issued by the FRSC throughout the festive period.

‎Mohammed attributed the improved safety record to sustained enforcement efforts, strategic operational planning, and increased public cooperation, noting that the outcome demonstrates that collective commitment to road safety can significantly reduce the incidence of crashes on Nigerian roads.

‎He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to strengthening road safety measures across the country and urged motorists to continue observing traffic rules to sustain the gains achieved during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
