The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area in Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has visited Oyede Comprehensive Secondary School to comfort students injured in a tricycle accident following the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

Speaking during his Tuesday visit to the school, Ogorugba, expressed profound gratitude to God that no lives were lost in the accident.

Yhe council boss revealed he had personally cleared over ₦2.4 million in medical expenses for the affected students and pledged to fully repair the school’s broken-down bus.

Ogorugba reassured the academic community and parents of his administration’s unwavering commitment to student safety.

He urged local schools to enforce stricter safety protocols and promised to collaborate with transport authorities to prevent future occurrences.

“On behalf of my family and the citizens of Isoko North, I pray for the swift and total healing of these students. Their safety is our priority, and we will remain steadfast in protecting and supporting our children,” Ogorugba stated.

Explaining the circumstances behind the incident, the school principal, Mrs. Udhe S.E., revealed that the school bus had been grounded due to four defective tires.

In a bid to ensure the students did not miss out on the Children’s Day celebrations at the council secretariat, the administration resorted to hiring commercial tricycles (Keke NAPEP).

Mrs. Udhe expressed deep gratitude to the Chairman, praising his prompt intervention, paternal care, and his commitment to restoring the school’s official transport vehicle.

The Chairman was accompanied on the visit by a delegation of senior council officials.

In a separate development, Chairman Godwin Ogorugba extended warm birthday congratulations to Dame (Mrs.) Edith Okowa, the immediate past First Lady of Delta State and founder of the 05 Initiative, on her 65th birthday.

In an official statement released on Monday in Ozoro, Ogorugba lauded Dame Okowa as a compassionate, God-fearing matriarch whose humanitarian efforts have left a lasting legacy across Nigeria.
