‎I Reject The Results: Amaechi Slams ADC Primaries As Concocted

‎Former Minister of Transportation and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries, describing the results as “concocted” and alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement across the country.

‎ In a statement issued via his X official handle, Amaechi said he would not accept the outcome of a process he claimed failed to meet the standards of fairness, transparency, and credibility promised by the party.

‎According to the statement, reports from across the country indicated that a large percentage of party members were prevented from participating in the exercise.

‎“I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced,” Amaechi declared, insisting that he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome if the process was free, fair, and transparent.

‎The former Rivers State governor accused the ADC leadership of engaging in the same electoral malpractices the opposition party had consistently condemned in the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

‎He alleged that nearly 80 percent of party members were denied the opportunity to vote during the exercise, questioning the credibility of the process and the integrity of the results being announced.

‎“There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results. Then what makes us different from the others,” he said.

‎Amaechi further stated that the ADC was created to provide Nigerians with a credible political alternative capable of addressing the nation’s challenges and restoring public confidence in governance.

‎“The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion,” he added.

‎The former minister also accused party officials of vote buying, result manipulation, and other irregularities, warning that such practices undermine the credibility of the opposition and weaken public trust in the democratic process.

‎“A party that criticizes the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results, and other electoral malpractices that lead to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. This is not acceptable,” Amaechi stated.
