Kidnapped Students, Teachers in Orire Still Held,Rescue Rumors False -Oyo Police

The Oyo State Police Command has refuted claims circulating online that students, pupils, and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area have been rescued, confirming that the victims remain in captivity.

‎In a public statement issued on Friday via the Oyo Police force official X handle, clarified that security agencies are still carrying out intensive operations to secure the safe release of the victims and apprehend those behind the abduction.

‎The statement said that,authorities warned that spreading fake news and misinformation creates unnecessary panic, heightens tension, and diverts critical security resources away from rescue operations.

‎“Members of the public are urged to remain calm, support the ongoing efforts of the joint security team, and verify every piece of information before sharing it,” he said.

‎The Command further assured residents that verified updates will be released as developments unfold. For clarification or authentic information, the public is advised to contact the Police Public Relations Officer or the Command’s control room directly.
