Late Nigerian banking mogul Herbert Wigwe has been linked to the ownership of 106 properties in London, United Kingdom.

A report by The Londoner titled ‘Revealed: The billionaires who really own London’ identified the individuals and entities behind 32,000 properties in London.

The report, which cited data from British tax lawyer Dan Neidle and the Tax Policy Associates, identified Wigwe as one of the overseas billionaires, foreign governments, investment firms, corporations and pension funds owning properties in the iconic Oxford Street and others across London.

The report said 2,224 of London’s most expensive and recognisable properties are all registered by companies located in St Helier, Jersey, a British island that has morphed into a notorious tax haven.

Before he died in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 9, 2024, Wigwe was Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc.

According to the report, the owners of the properties became known after the UK government passed a new rule mandating that any overseas entities that owned UK real estate had to register their real ownership with UK authorities.
