Isoko South Boss Calls for Continuous Support for Nigeria’s Armed Forces

The Isoko South Local Governor Chairman, Comrade Friday Voke Warri, has called on Nigerians to continued to lend their support for the Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

He spoke as the council round off activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, on Thursday, in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The event witnessed a solemn assembly that culminated with launching of the armed forces emblem, laying of wreaths at the ceremonial tomb of the unknown soldier at the council ground.

Warri while using the occasion to officially launched the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Celebration Day emblem, called for continued support even as he encouraged Nigerians to ponder the occasion’s importance by paying homage to the valor and supreme sacrifices of the nation’s fallen heroes.

The council chairman who unveiled the emblem at the Otobo Hall to signify the start of activities for the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Celebration Day, reviewed their efforts in upholding the nation’s sovereignty against both internal and external threats.

According to the council chairman, “It is remarkable to note their contributions, respectively, in keeping the nation together as one during the Nigerian Civil War, participation in the ECOMOG force in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and other West African states, including contributory forces to peace missions in other African countries.

“The war against insurgency and banditry in the Northeast, Northwest, and Middle Belt of the country today, which has also claimed the lives of our dear soldiers, cannot be easily forgotten, as they have held forth to tame the menace to the level it is today. We must appreciate their efforts and sacrifices at all levels.

“I wish to state emphatically that we are not just gathered here for merrymaking but to be reflective on the roles and contributions of our gallant soldiers, both serving and retired, and fallen heroes to our fatherland. It thus behooves us today to be more proactive and committed towards sacrificing for the development and growth of our dear nation, as the course of security remains a big challenge for our soldiers, and all hands must be on deck for total victory to be achieved.” Warri added

In his speech, the Legion chairman of Isoko South, Lt. Col. Agal Abri Napoleon, expressed gratitude on behalf of his members to the council chairman for consistently celebrating with them.

Abri however used the occasion solicited the council chairman’s support for the provision of a veterans’ office and land for farming purposes, including fowl, fish, and cassava cultivation to aid veterans in the zone.

High points of the event was the laying of wreaths by the council chairman, heads of security agencies in the local government and other persons.

The ceremony was attended by the vice chairman, Theresa Ikrike; the Leader of Isoko South Legislative Arm, Friday Olokor; The secretary to Isoko South Local Government Council, Osuofa Aziakpono, the Chairman of Isoko South All Progressives Congress, Vincent Egbogbo; clergymen; security heads and other notable figures.
