The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council, has expressed deep appreciation to its benefactors and stakeholders whose efforts made the inauguration of its new High Chief Government Ekpemupolo Press Centre, located at Eburu Street, Warri possible, while also addressing pressing infrastructural and environmental issues affecting the community.

Arising from its maiden congress held at the facility, the union commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and its leadership, notably High Chief Government Owiezide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), for constructing and equipping the impressive press centre, which promises to elevate journalism standards in the country.

In a communique signed by Ebenezer Adurokiya, Okpare Theophilus Onojeghen and Matthew Omonigho, the union also lauded the contributions of Tantita’s MD, High Chief Kestin Pondi, Dr. Paul Benenimibo, Registrar of Nigeria Maritime University, its national leader and pathfinder, Asiwaju Sola Adebayo and other dignitaries who facilitated the project.

Inaugurated by Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the edifice was praised for its modern design and functionality.

The union also acknowledged traditional rulers, including the Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo and the Ovie of Idjerhe, for their roles in overseeing the project’s seamless execution and gracing the occasion with their presence.

The communique lauded the current and immediate past National Presidents of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahyah and Comrade Chris Isiguzo, as well as the Delta State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe for their roles in birthing the historic landmark in Nigeria journalism.

However, the Congress expressed concern over the poor state of the only access road leading to the press centre, urging the state government to prioritize its reconstruction.
