Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has appreciated and congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the official flag-off of the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge linking Delta and Anambra States (Phase 2A, Contract No. 8792), as well as the reconstruction of the Asaba-Benin Expressway.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the president and made available to journalists on Sunday.

In his words, “these projects are of immense strategic importance, not only for the South-South and South-East regions but for Nigeria as a whole.”

According to the federal lawmaker, by prioritizing their execution, his administration “has reaffirmed its commitment to economic integration, national cohesion, and infrastructural renewal.”

He continued: “The Asaba-Benin Expressway, in particular, has been a major source of concern due to its dilapidated state and the severe hardship it has imposed on commuters and businesses.

“As a senator representing Delta North, I have persistently engaged the Federal Ministry of Works on this matter, advocating for urgent intervention. I formally wrote to the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) David Nweze Umahi, and pressed for immediate remedial measures.

“It is gratifying to see that these efforts, backed by your leadership’s responsiveness, have resulted in tangible progress, with the project duly accommodated in the national budget.

“The urgency of rehabilitating our federal roads has also been reinforced at the legislative level. The Senate, under the leadership of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, has recognized the dire state of federal roads nationwide and, as a matter of national importance, passed a resolution mandating their maintenance and rehabilitation.

“The Senate Committee on Works, where I serve as a member, has taken a firm position that all national roads must be reconstructed and revitalized to boost economic activities, reduce accidents, and ensure safer, more efficient transportation across the country.

“In light of the nation’s current fiscal constraints, we feel deeply grateful that our region is among the first to receive this much-needed intervention.”

Nwoko said further: “Your administration’s keen attention to critical infrastructure speaks to a broader vision of sustainable development and economic expansion.

“The flag-off of these projects will not only enhance connectivity between Delta, Anambra, Edo, and beyond but will also catalyze commercial activities and ease transportation burdens. For this, the people of Delta North and the entire region remain deeply grateful.”

He also commended the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) David Nweze Umahi, “for his hands-on approach and unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure across the country,” adding that “his efforts in ensuring that projects of national importance receive due attention have been truly commendable.”

“As a representative of my people, I have taken it upon myself to expedite these critical projects, knowing their far-reaching benefits. The progress we celebrate today is not just a personal milestone but a collective triumph for our region.

“I look forward to continued collaboration with your administration in advancing initiatives that will uplift our people and drive sustainable development,” the senator stated.

“Once again, I extend my deepest gratitude, Your Excellency, for your leadership and dedication to national progress,” he concluded.
