Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri, has said that for the sake of financial prudence and accountability, on assumption of office, he refused to stay in hotels following the dilapidation of the council chairman official residence.

According to the council chairman, after his inauguration as the council chairman of Isoko South by governor Sheriff Oborevwori, he visited the chairman’s quarters and was shocked to see the sorry state of the quarters, saying “You won’t even allowed your pets to stay in the chairman’s residence because of the level of dilapidation. Immediately, I commenced the remodeling of the place we all are seeing and have come to commission today.”

Warri who disclosed this Monday during the commissioning of the remodelled official residence of the chairman of Isoko South and launch of the council logo, noted that Isoko South can now boast of a befitting and habitable official quarters for the chairman.

According to the council chairman “I am pleased to announce to you that one of the very first things we did when we assumed office was to meet with all relevant security agencies to make Isoko South a safe place for all. Road rehabilitation of varying degrees have formed the fulcrum of our first few months in office.

“The bad spots of Ogbemudia have undergone repairs, and we are not stopping at that because we understand that most of our roads are state roads, but they are used mostly by our local people, so we would not ignore the poor state of these roads. We will continue to carry out palliative measures to ease the burden of our road users.

“On assumption of office, our administration has provided stable solar electricity at the council secretariat and the chairman’s official residence. As we speak, the local government council is at the final stage of launching an official website for the local government, the website would help to connect artisans and professionals with job opportunities, thereby keeping the people productively engaged and bringing governance closer to the people.”, Warri assured.

Commissioning the remodeled official residence of the chairman, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, thanked and commended the chairman of Isoko South for complementing the efforts of the state governor in the execution of M.O.R.E. projects.

The speaker, advised the local government chairman to always consult the people before embarking on any projects while ensuring projects are executed according to standard.

The speaker assured the people of Isoko South of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s even distribution of projects as a promise keeper, noting that the Asaba/Ughelli motorway was taking a new look and that the 29 members of the state House of Assembly were solidly behind the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, unveiling the official logo of the Isoko South which represents the cultural heritage of the Isoko people, the agricultural imprint, and the solid background of their sound educational drive over the years, the commissioner for local government affairs, Kelly Penawou, commended the council chairman for his foresight and vision aimed at carrying Isoko South to greater heights.
