Chikwado Eze, an Onitsha-based businessman, lost his life in a bizarre ritual gone wrong in Enugu State.

Eze, who had secured a visa to travel abroad for business, sought spiritual fortification from a native doctor in Inyi, a community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the State.

“I needed fortification for more fortunes in my business,” Eze reportedly said before undergoing the ritual.

According to Vanguard report, the native doctor demanded that Eze be buried in a grave for 1.5 hours to gain the desired spiritual powers. Eze’s father, Uwakwe, according to the report accompanied him to the ritual.

“After some merriment, the native doctor asked us to excuse them for the rituals but it turned out to be a ritual gone wrong“, a source revealed.

Eze was lowered into the grave and covered with earth. However, upon exhumation, he was weak and covered in sweat. Despite the native doctor’s incantations, Eze could not be revived.

“He was rushed to a hospital in Ogrute, where doctors pronounced him dead,” an eyewitness confirmed.
