BREAKING: Multi-million Dollar Chevron’s EGTL Facility Shut Down In Delta By Protesters
Multi-million dollar Chevron’s Escravos Gas To Liquid,[(EGTL) project, has been shut down in Delta state.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) understands that the facility was shut down on Tuesday morning by angry protesters from Ugborodo community, Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
The company’s dock situated in the oil-rich but poverty stricken community was also crippled over perceived non-implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, (PIA) and other demands.
Some of the demands of the protesters reads; “Chevron implement Ikpere-HCDT as agreed with NUPRC,Stop the gross marginalization of Ugborodo community, Turn around maintenance: Over 10,000 workers employed without community knowledge, the Superintendent now employ their families instead of jobless indigenes, Ugborodo community workers are due for direct conversation, Chevron: Ugborodo community can’t continue like this, Chevron: You cannot employ only 2019/2020 section of workers in the ongoing turnaround maintenance, Chevron: Obey host community rules and regulations, Chevron jobs belongs to the community and not to the families of superintendents, Chevron supervisors are not a community representatives”.
