Oyowe Emerges New Delta NUJ Chairman
Churchill Oyowe, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Information, Delta state, has been elected as chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that Oyowe was elected in a keenly contested election held at the State Secretariat of the NUJ in Asaba, the state capita.
Oyowe defeated his rival, Comrade Salvation Ogono, a deputy Director in the state Ministry of Information to emerged the chairman for a three years tenureship.
Speaking briefly, the outgone Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, congratulated the new executive of the NUJ and urged them to embrace all irrespective of the political differences.
He urged the new exco to work as a team to take the union to greater heights.
Ikeogwu said,”I congratulate the winner of this election. Am happy for you. I also want to let the new executive know that this victory is for all members of the Union. Therefore,they should do everything possible to unite all and take the union to an Eldorado.”
Other members of the new executive includes, Comrade Felix Ekwu, (Vice Chairman),Comrade Victor Sorokwu, (Secretary), Josephine Omodion, (Assistant Secretary) and Comrade Celestine Afokobah, (Auditor).
