BREAKING: Eight Choristers Kidnapped In Ondo Escape Captivity
Eight choristers who were abducted along the Owo/Ose axis of Ondo state, have managed to escape from their captors.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) understands that the victims miraculously fled from the kidnappers den once the suspects had confiscated their mobile phones.
Confirming the escape, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the police operatives were responsible for rescuing the victims.
She further added, “Eight victims have been rescued, and efforts are underway to rescue the remaining individuals unharmed.”
The victims, who identified themselves as members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke Igann in Akure, were en route to a burial wake.
However, upon reaching Ajagbale via Elegbeka on the Ifon/Owo expressway, they were ambushed by five unidentified gunmen.
The assailants fired indiscriminately before forcefully taking them into the nearby bush.
A family member of one of the abductees who pleaded anonymity, said that the worshippers were kidnapped at Elegbeka after Ifon in Ose council area, while traveling for a burial ceremony.
“The vehicle conveying the kidnapped members who are choir members was seen abandoned by the roadside,” the woman said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Owo-Ifon has been a nightmare for motorists due to incessant cases of kidnapping and armed robbery on the route.
