JUST IN: In Ebonyi, Police Shoot Tear Gas At Peter Obi Supporters

The “police in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, in South-East Nigeria, tear gassed organizers of a rally in support of the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi.”, according to Channels TV.

“Members and their supporters had gathered along Mile 50 to embark on a rally to canvass support for their candidate but were stopped from going into the streets,” the station’s report reads.

It cited Nwali Ikechukwu, one of the supporters, as saying that some people were hurt when the security agency showed up.

According to the report, SP Chris Anyanwu, a spokesman for the Ebonyi State Police Command, was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
