The soon-to-be announced running mate to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi after the withdrawal of Doyin Okupe, is likely to rattle the Northern political bloc.

www.bigpenngr.com reports that a section of North is already mounting pressure on Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed believed to have been chosen as Obi’s running mate not to accept the nomination.

A human rights activist and Executive Director, Adopt A Goal Initiative, Dare Ariyo-Atoye alluded to this few days ago when he twitter that ‘Peter Obi’s likely VP choice is rattling the North. The pressure on Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed not to accept the offer is unprecedented’.

Confirming this, a social media influencer, Philip Thomas, popularly known as Comrade Phils, said that Datti Baba-Ahmed has formally accepted his nomination and will be unveiled as Obi’s running mate on Friday.
He said; “The Labour Party, LP, will on Friday unveil Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the running mate to Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 elections.
“Dear Nigerians, Behold your VP that will lead with the leader of the New Nigeria starting 2023…
Congratulations ahead!, he wrote on his verified Facebook page.

Recalls that Doyin Okupe, had withdrawn from his position as running mate to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and asked Nigerians to await his replacement.

Mr Okupe, a former media aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo, in a Twitter post on Thursday, said he had tendered his withdrawal letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC.

According to him, “This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC. A replacement will be announced by the national chairman of the party shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success for the Labour Party,” he announced.
Apparently, Okupe’s name was submitted by the LP to meet up with the June 17 deadline fixed by the INEC.

He further confirmed that alliance talks with Rabiu Kwankwaso-led NNPP hard died.
