Alarming Rate Of Attacks On Critical Infrastructure Requires Urgent Action

The Presidential Think-Tank on Defence and Security, has called for urgent action by all stakeholders to stem the alarming rate and rampant vandalism and destruction of Nigeria’s critical infrastructure and monuments.
Dr Alfred Chiakor, Secretary, Presidential Think-Tank on Defence and Security Summit Planning Committee, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the forthcoming summit on Friday, in Abuja.
Chiakor, who is the Chief of Strategy, Ashcraft Centre for Social Science Research, said the summit was aimed at harnessing all stakeholder in the infrastructural development.
According to him, the summit is to build multi Stakeholder confidence and synergy to attract foreign investors into the country for enhanced productivity of the economy.
He said the summit was a high priority project that aims to engender diverse Stakeholder synergy for real time management solutions and systemized rapid response strategy; harness expert/operational knowledge and country wide technical support to enhance threat mitigation and desired security outcomes.
Chiakor said that the summit would also explore further capabilities in the fight against banditry, kidnapping and other emergency recoveries.
“Summit is all about building multi Stakeholder confidence, synergy and capabilities with the view to engender investor confidence; encourage cross fertilization of ideas and stimulate Foreign Direct Investment into Nigeria’s productive Sectors as canvassed by Mr President at different international fora.
“It is to also boost capital growth and turnkey business development,” he said.
Chiakor announced the postponement of the summit earlier scheduled for Dec. 6 to Dec. 8, was rescheduled to February 2022 to accommodate more stakeholder.
He explained that the need for the postponement arose from further engagements with more critical stakeholders who lamented that the timing was not convenient, considering the period of the year.
“Having aggregated these concerns, there is the compelling need to postpone the Summit to a more convenient date.
“This shall also give the planning committee more leverage to reach out to the other Stakeholders who were not invited, but whose participation and inputs are of utmost importance in enriching the proceedings and priorities of the summit.
“Accordingly, I wish to confirm to you that the National Summit is officially postponed.
“It shall now hold on Feb. 28 and March 1, 2022 at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja,” he said.
