ex-Kano, Benue Military Administrator Is Dead

Dominic Oneya, a former Military Administrator of Kano and Benue States, is dead.

General Oneya died on Wednesday at his home town, Agbarho, Delta State, according to a family member.

Oneya, died after a brief illness as he was in Abuja about a week ago, the family source said.

Dominic Obukadata Oneya was born 26 May 1948 in Apapa, Local Government Area of Lagos state.

He was Military Administrator of Kano State, from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, then Administrator of Benue State from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

He handed over power to the elected executive governor of Benue, George Akume on 29 May 1999.

Oneya later became Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association.
