There is palpable tension in Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government of Delta State, as unknown gunmen on Saturday reportedly shot two youths identified as sons of the traditional Chief Priest of Orhuwhorun community.

BIGPENNGR understands the one of the youths and two police guards attached to them were shot dead while another is battling with bullet wound after the attack at Effurun, Uvwie council area late Saturday evening.

Unconfirmed sources claimed that the killing may not be far unconnected to squabble over the outcome of the internet fraud deal.

The two youths who are said to be ‘princes’ of the Orhuwhorun community and children of the present Chief Priest, Chief Ighowho Etakerere are believed to be involved in some alleged internet fraud deal popularly known as “Yahoo yahoo”.

Sources alleged that the victims who are also perceived to be members of ‘black Axe’ confraternity, were gun down by another suspected rival yahoo boys clique.

One source disclosed that the boys were trailed by the rival ‘yahoo boys’ cult group to Jakpa road where the two deceased had gone for a marriage ceremony.

“Two of them were shot dead in an ambush by gunmen suspected to be cult members. It is believed that the gunmen trailed them from Orhuwhorun since they could not harm them there to Jakpa road where they went for a marriage ceremony. Two mobile police officers attached to them were also killed during the attack”.

BIGPENNGR reports that the development has heightened tension in the community as residents scamper all through Saturday night following the upheaval the killing had generated in the town.

When contacted, the Delta State Police Command’s Acting Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, in a telephone conversation confirmed the killing of the two mobile policemen attached to the ‘princes’ saying that one of the boys identified as son of King of Orhuwhorun died while the other is still in the hospital recuperating.

He said that he cannot confirm if those who shot the police officers and sons of the traditionalist were cultists or yahoo boys as being alleged.
