Community Leader, Bricklayer Shot Dead In Delta
The immediate past chairman of Ugbori community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince Godwin Metie, has been reportedly shot dead.
Metie was reportedly shot dead at about 9:pm on Monday by yet-to-be identified armed men who attacked Merogun, a volatile area of Warri, the commercial hub of Delta state.
According to local sources, the deceased was said to have been waylaid by masks-wearing hoodlums who opened fire on him.
Niger Delta Today reports that the victim gave up the ghost at the scene of the incident before help could come his way.
In a related development, a bricklayer simply identified as Uruese has been reportedly murdered by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
Uruese, fondly called “Iron Monkey”, was killed at Orerokpe in Okpe council area of the state last Friday.
The deceased, who lived around a street close to the council’s secretariat, was shot through the window while sleeping.
The Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, when contacted said that she was unaware of alleged killing of the former Ugbori community chairman but confirmed the death of Uruese at Orerokpe.
Onovwakpoyeya, said “the one that was shot while he was sleeping is true. Investigation is on. She, however, promised to provide information on the killing of Metie.
